About Us
Belmont Musical Theatre is a course designed to teach the fundamentals of musical theatre while providing students with a professional theatrical experience. Students may choose to either perform in the musical, or work backstage creating props, costumes and “running” the show. Professional performers, musicians and technicians who are currently working in the theatre industry, mentor and direct Belmont Musical Theatre students. Students also have the opportunity to see musical theatre productions, as well as take part in special workshops lead by industry professionals. Last year students participated in a Broadway Jazz workshop with Rockette and Broadway performer, Julie Tomaino.
All students can join Belmont Musical Theatre; however, if students are interested in playing lead roles, they must audition. Auditions take place in late September.
Belmont Musical Theatre is offered outside the timetable, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:45. Once our yearly musical has been cast, students are required to check the callboard to see when they are required to attend rehearsal. Regular attendance to rehearsals is mandatory.
